    Pokie-free pubs in Queensland – 2015

Since publishing my list of Victoria’s pokie-free pubs, there has been a lot of interest in similar lists for other states. So without further ado, here is the 2015 Cyenne list of pokie-free pubs for Queensland.

    Pokie-free pubs in Victoria – 2015

I first published my list of pokie-free pubs in Victoria over 5 years ago, and it’s become one of the most popular pages on this site. I then converted that list into a stand-alone website but it became too difficult to maintain and after several corruption events, I had to shut it down.

5 years is a long time, and it’s time for an update. Enjoy, and please let me know if you see a pub that shouldn’t be here, or know of one that I’ve missed.

But do you know the whole picture?

    Victoria’s pokies pain getting worse

Losses on Victoria’s 26,300 poker machines are rising. Three months into the new financial year, figures from the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR) show that we’re losing more money faster, and heading back towards record levels of spending.

Melbourne Cup is not the problem

Today is Melbourne Cup day. The day of the “race that stops a nation”. The day every man, woman and dog has a punt on the horses.

Today will see an awful lot of money wagered on the Cup. You could call it an obscene amount of money. Hundreds of millions of dollars will be bet on the race, most of it on losing horses. Some money will be won, but most of it will be lost.
